  Children's books do not reflect modern UK society, with ethnic minorities significantly under-represented, according to a study. Researchers say that there are very few characters from a black, Asian or minority ethnic (BAME) background in literature aimed at children, which is at odds with the make-up of the nation's population. Minority group members often face discrimination in multiple areas of social life, including housing, employment, healthcare, and education, among others. While discrimination may be committed by individuals, it may also occur through structural inequalities, in which rights and opportunities are not equally accessible to all.

  The challenges that face Latino students threaten to undermine the academic accomplishments and economic prospects of the U.S. as a whole. This book examines the educational landscape for Latino students, looks at policies that have failed to support Latino families, and suggests specific policies that can address these problems. The extent to which minority students attend public schools with nonminority students has changed over time.
